PRIVACY POLICY
Privacy Policy
Direct Chat (WhatsApp) is built around one principle: the numbers you message stay with you. This app collects nothing and sends nothing on your behalf.
Short version: Direct Chat is a 100% offline, on-device tool. It has no servers, no accounts, no analytics, no ads, and no trackers. Your phone numbers, message history, and preferences are stored only in a local database on your own device and can be erased at any time — either in the app or by uninstalling it.
1.Overview
Direct Chat (the “App”) lets you open a WhatsApp chat with any phone number without saving that person as a contact in your device address book. This policy explains what information the App handles, where it is stored, and the very limited ways it is used. By using the App you agree to the practices described below.
2.Information We Do NOT Collect
The App is deliberately built without any data-collection infrastructure. It does not collect:
- ✕ Your name, email, or any account credentials.
- ✕ Your device identifier, advertising ID, or IP address.
- ✕ Your location, contacts list, or device address book.
- ✕ Usage statistics, crash reports, or behavioural analytics.
There is no account system, no registration, and the App performs no network requests of its own. All features work while your device is fully offline.
3.Information Stored Locally On Your Device
To provide features such as a “recent chats” history and favourites, the App stores a small record of your messaging activity in a private SQLite database on your device. Each history entry may include:
- The phone number you typed, together with its selected country code and flag identifier;
- The date and time the chat was opened;
- A favourite flag (whether you starred the entry).
This data never leaves your device. It is not uploaded to any server, is not accessible to other apps, and is not shared with WhatsApp or Meta.
You are in full control of this data:
- ✓ Swipe any history entry to delete it.
- ✓ Unstar entries to remove them from your favourites.
- ✓ Uninstalling the App permanently deletes its database from your device.
4.Clipboard Access
The number field includes a “paste” button so you can quickly insert a phone number copied elsewhere (for example from a website or a note). The App reads the clipboard only when you explicitly tap that paste button. It never monitors or reads your clipboard in the background, and no clipboard content is ever transmitted anywhere.
5.Third-Party Services
The App’s only purpose is to open chats inside WhatsApp, which is a third-party service operated by WhatsApp LLC (Meta). When you open a chat or send a message, that interaction happens inside WhatsApp and is subject to WhatsApp’s own Privacy Policy.
- The App hands WhatsApp the phone number you typed so it can open the correct chat. The number is transferred to WhatsApp only for this purpose.
- The content of any messages you send is transmitted and processed by WhatsApp under their policies and applicable encryption — not by this App.
- The App itself does not share your history or any other data with WhatsApp.
If WhatsApp is not installed, the App may offer a link to the Google Play Store so you can install it. Play Store usage is governed by Google’s Privacy Policy.
6.Permissions & Contacts
The App requests no contact-related permissions. It does not declare or use READ_CONTACTS or WRITE_CONTACTS. Chats are opened purely from the number you type via WhatsApp’s public deep links (whatsapp://send / wa.me). The number exists only in memory and in the App’s own local history — it is never written to your system contact store.
7.Children’s Privacy
The App is a general-purpose utility and does not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, including children under the age of 13. Because no personal data is collected at all, no special handling of children’s data is required beyond what is described in this policy.
8.Data Security
Because the App has no servers and transmits no data, the main “security” concern is protecting the local history file on your device. The database lives in the App’s private sandboxed storage, which Android keeps isolated from other applications. As with any on-device data, we recommend protecting your device with a lock screen, PIN, or biometric unlock.
9.Changes To This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, the “Effective date” at the top of this page will be revised. Any changes apply to future versions of the App, and continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
